Pick and Cheese

Pick and Cheese, Seven Dials

Cheese. Love it, even the mouldy and smelly ones.

Someone had the great idea to setup a cheese restaurant using the same idea as some sushi restaurants. A conveyor belt loops around a preparation area carrying different coloured plates. On each plate there is cheese covered by a glass dome. Each cheese is pair with something.

Crackers are supplied, drinks can be purchased and there are a few charcuterie plates.

Booking is essential, given that cheese is so popular.

Initially I was a bit wary about trying it. In the past I had suffered Sushi Shock. We had visited a conveyor belt sushi restaurant as a family. My youngest daughter loves sushi. We had a chance to sample a wide range os sushi. We didn’t pay much attention to the plate colours and ate our fill. At the end the plates were counted and the bill presented.
Sushi shock!
We didn’t go back for quite a few years.

Pick and Cheese

At Pick and Cheese, the plates range in price from £4 to £7 (circa 2024) I felt that if we visited, we would all transform into Ben Gunn from Treasure Island. Muttering Cheese while piling up the plates. Ending with Cheese Shock. Walking away with aching stomachs and wallets.

But, there is a better option. Every Wednesday you can book an all you can eat slot for seventy five minutes. It cost £30 per person (circa 2024). We have tried it twice and highly recommend it. On the first visit, we tried to sample everything on the menu. Not recommended, I was barely able to walk away and couldn’t eat cheese for a week.

Pick and Cheese

For the second visit we were more restrained, skipped the known cheeses and tried the ones we didn’t know. Pick and Cheese worked out far better the second time.
