Look to this day
This is a poem by Kalidasa that I love. It resonates with me and I want to live it everyday.
I saw this translation at a friends house recently.
Look to this day,
For it is the very life of life.
In its brief course
lie all the truths and realities of your existence.
The glory of action,
The bliss of growth,
The splendour of beauty,
For yesterday is but a dream
and tomorrow is only a vision;
But today well lived makes
every yesterday a dream of happiness,
and every tomorrow a vision of hope,
Look well, therefore, to this day.
Kalidasa wrote in the late 4th and early 5th century. He is considered classical India’s master poet and dramatist. Only seven of his works have survived.
