Insignificant

I was talking to a friend awhile ago reminiscing about when we used to work together. They were telling a story and I was shocked at how radically different their memory of it was to mine. Same story, very different views.

It reminded me of a quote, by Ghandi, who has so many good quotes.

Whatever you do will be insignificant, but it is very important that you do it.

I always found the quote nihilistic, nothing matters but do it anyway.

But there are more lines to the quote.

You can’t ever really know the meaning of your life.
And you don’t need to.
Every life has a meaning.

I like how it reshapes the quote away from nihilism to affirmation.

The conversation reminded me, you don’t realise the impact that you are having on the people around you.
